For the students who have take admission in July 2019, the programme code of Bachelor of Commerce programme has been changed from BCOM to BCOMG.

This article has been written for those who are looking for details like new and old course code & course name of Bachelor of Commerce programme offered by IGNOU.
IGNOU BCOM Course Code & Names (New Syllabus)
Earlier, it was yearly system but in new BCOMG programme, the courses has been divided into six semesters.
The credit system approach has been followed by Indira Gandhi National Open University in all its programmes.
One credit is equal to 30 hours of learners study time.
To earn Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce, a student has to earn 132 credits in minimum six semesters (three years) with 22 credits per semester.
For earning 132 credits, a student has to study all the courses from the following categories of courses:
- Core Courses (CC)
- Discipline Specific Electives (DSE)
- Ability Enhancement Compulsory Courses (AECC)
- Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC)
- Generic Electives (GE)
In each semester, the students have to study 4 courses in all from different categories of courses.
While the courses unde CC, DSE and GE Categories are of 6 credits each, the courses under AEC and SEC are of 4 credits each.
The total of 22 credits has to be selected student for study in one semester.
